Joe Carrera-Casiano
NYA International, Kidnap and Ransom Response Expert Former Green Beret
Mr. Carrera has more than thirty five years of experience in managing, planning and implementing specialized business risk, security, military, and nation building programs worldwide. His recognized expertise in crisis management, investigations, intelligence, security project management, and community affairs programs have evolved from his combined experience within the private sector, as well as US government and military service as a commissioned officer. He has successfully case-managed numerous kidnap for ransom and extortion cases, complex investigations, and developed security management programs and successful risk management strategies for clients in high-risk, terrorist-threat and hostile environments to include Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Iraq, Brazil and Africa. He also possesses a detailed and comprehensive understanding of political, economic, and social issues throughout Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. He has served as chairperson for interagency programs coordinating policy issues within US government agencies, host country authorities, and the private sector. His areas of personal expertise and experience extend into working with clients in the Oil and Gas Sector, Mining, and Technology Sectors as well. He has served in Iraq as Regional Security Director for a major design build contractor and engineering firm during the major reconstruction effort post invasion. In his current role as Senior Response Consultant he serves as the primary Client Relationship Manager with AIG's clients based throughout the USA, Canada, and parts of Latin America. He holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rutgers University. His military service as a commissioned officer includes Special Forces qualifications along with Counterintelligence Agent credentials. As an accomplished linguist, he maintains native fluency in Portuguese and Spanish.
