The Corporate Treasurer's Council of the Association of Financial Professionals developed a comprehensive white paper of how ERM was being effectively used by a number of successful companies and what they're doing that seems to make a difference and an impact on their companies. This session will provide an overview of this study and highlight the things a few of these companies did that led to the successful deployment of their ERM strategies. It will include key takeaways from the study and a review of the evolution of ERM that led up to these successes.

Christopher E. Mandel is SVP, Strategic Solutions for Sedgwick, Inc., the world's largest and leading claims and productivity management firm. He has held leadership positions in insurance, consulting, brokerage and large global corporates for over 30 years. From 2001-2010, Mr. Mandel was head of enterprise risk management for USAA Group, where he designed, developed and led the award winning enterprise-wide risk management and corporate insurance centers of excellence. He has been a long term senior leader in the Risk and Insurance Management Society including being elected President in 2002-03 and was named Risk Manager of the Year in 2004. He holds and has held numerous board positions in the industry.

Mr. Mandel received his B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an MBA in finance from George Mason University. He holds the RIMS Fellow, CCSA, CPCU, ARM and AIC designations and is a frequent industry speaker, teacher and writer. He writes the "Next Level" column for Risk and Insurance magazine and in 2008 was elected a member of Risk Who's Who (RWW). He has had continuously running columns in Business Insurance or Risk and Insurance Magazine since 1996.
